The Texas County Library Foundation announced a donor tree has been added to interior design plans for the new Houston branch of the county library system.

Crafted by Paragon Fabrication, a Springfield company, the artwork will highlight those whose generosity made the new library possible. The $2.6 million project that covers 7,200 square feet will be debt-free when it opens later this summer. The current library has been at its Walnut Street location since 1950. The new space will more than double the amount available and also includes a children’s section, a business center to aid local entrepreneurs and a community meeting room.

There is still a need for additional donations as plans have started for furnishings, including expanded public access stations for internet use, various tables and equipment for a business center and conference room. The library’s existing shelving will be used at the new location.

Anyone who donates at least $500 to the project will have their name included as part of the tree design, which includes leaves and butterflies.

Anyone who would like to help can send a tax-deductible donation to: Texas County Library Foundation, 117 W. Walnut, Houston, Mo. 65483 or drop it by the library.

There also are some Neighborhood Assistance Program tax credits available. Eligible donors receive a 70-cent tax credit for each $1 donated. Additionally, there is also deductibility on federal tax returns.
