Sales tax revenue in Houston, Cabool and Texas County increased in February compared to 2024, according to a recent report.
HOUSTON
A one-cent sales tax earmarked for parks, police and fire generated $75,872.27 in February. That’s up $3,600.09 from the same period a year ago.
A one-cent general sales tax increased $261.07, totaling $77,089.
Two quarter-cent sales taxes – one for transportation and one for utility work – each totaled $19,017 in February. That’s up $924 from the same period last year.
A use tax applied to online and out-of-state purchases increased $1,108.54, totaling $14,393.31 for the month.
CABOOL
A one-cent general sales tax totaled $31,519.26. That’s an increase of $6,803.27 from the same period last year.
A half-cent sales tax for transportation needs totaled $15,759.50 in February. That’s up $3,401.62 from the same period last year.
A half-cent sales tax earmarked for law enforcement totaled $15,573.43 for the month.
A use tax applied to online and out-of-state purchases increased $8,175.90, totaling $13,415.68 for the month.
TEXAS COUNTY
For Texas County, merchants collect three half-cent sales taxes. Each totaled $122,309 for February, which represented an increase of $8,104 on each from the same period a year ago.
The sales tax on online and out-of-state sales totaled $97,994.65 for the month. That was up $20,651.61 from the same month in 2024.
Revenue from a three-eighths-cent sales tax earmarked for law enforcement totaled $80,561.77, which was up $12,912.65 for the month.
