The Houston Rural Fire Department was called early Thursday evening to a natural cover fire on Longview Road, which is west of Tyrone.
Roby’s fire department also was called into action earlier in its territory.
The blazes come as the National Weather Service predicts a high fire risk for Friday.
A Red Flag Warning has been issued for potentially historic fire conditions on Friday into Friday night, the National Weather Service said.
A High Wind Watch and High Wind Advisory have also been issued for Friday for strong and potentially damaging non-thunderstorm winds. Lastly, a quick round of potentially significant severe thunderstorms are also expected Friday.
