On Sunday, March 23, a situation occurred from a “controlled” fire that was approaching our property, and unfortunately left us in need of assistance.
Fortunately for us, we were assisted by the fine men of the Houston Rural Fire Department.
These young men, Hunter and Nate, and others on site, were kind, polite and knowledgeable. They set our minds at ease regarding the process of making a fire line and starting a back burn to ensure the fire did not get out of control and onto our property.
The $7.92 ($95/year) we pay for peace of mind, was priceless last night. If we had not been a part of the Houston Rural Fire Association, it is our understanding that the cost for them to assist would have been over $600 for the first hour. I would encourage those who are not investing in the services of the Houston Rural Fire Department, to do so. You never know when their services are going to be needed. These men work hard and we are thankful that they are willing to invest in our community and give of themselves so selflessly.
To all those working at the Houston Rural Fire Department, there are not enough words to thank you for your services and for protecting our property, we are indebted to you!
Respectfully and with gratitude,
Bucyrus Homeowners
