A precautionary boil advisory has been issued from the Public Water Supply District No. 1 that serves a portion of the county.

It affects only customers living on Highway BB, Decker Road and Slaughter Road.

“If you do not live on these roadways then you are not affected by this advisory. This advisory has been issued due to the line coming apart at the bridge in Boiling Springs during the flooding. It has now been repaired and water has been restored. We will post and update when the advisory is lifted,” according to a statement from the district.

The reason for the precautionary boil advisory is due to a loss of water pressure in the district, it said.

Tips for affected customers

  1. Boil water vigorously for three minutes prior to use. Use only boiled water for drinking, diluting fruit juices, and all other food preparations.
  2. Dispose of ice cubes and do not use ice from a household automatic icemaker. Remake ice cubes with water that has been boiled.
  3. Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains a teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.
  4. Water used for bathing does not need to be boiled. Supervision of children is necessary while bathing, so that the water is not ingested. Persons with cuts or severe rashes may want to consult their physician before bathing.
