A Cabool man faces four felony charges after a Texas County Sheriff’s Department investigation of an incident on May 7.

Nathan A. Jones, 30, is charged with two counts of domestic assault – third degree, resisting or interfering with an arrest for a felony and harassment – first degree (all class E felonies).

According to a deputy’s report, an officer was dispatched regarding a domestic disturbance at a residence in Cabool. Prior to arrival, the deputy was advised that the man who reported the incident was at the Brown Hill Church in Houston.

When law officers arrived at the church, the man said he, Jones (his son) and his grandson had been involved in a verbal and physical altercation earlier that day. The grandson reportedly said he had fixed a well on the property and his uncle Jones had been verbally aggressive toward him about his work.

The grandson reported that Jones then became physically aggressive, so he defended himself by shoving him to the ground. The grandson said he and his girlfriend then left the residence to avoid further conflict.

The reporting party then told officers Jones began yelling at him and physically assaulting him and threatening to kill him and burn his house down. The officer reported observing cuts and bruises on the man’s left hand and right elbow.

Officers made contact with Jones at his residence, and he was arrested. He resisted being put into a patrol vehicle until an officer drew his taser.

Cash or surety bond in the case is set at $100,000.
