Sales tax revenue in Houston, Cabool and Texas County increased in April compared to 2024, according to a recent report.
HOUSTON
A one-cent sales tax earmarked for parks, police and fire generated $80,741.09 in April. That’s up $2,318.81 from the same period a year ago.
A one-cent general sales tax increased $8,378.65, totaling $88,306.20.
Two quarter-cent sales taxes – one for transportation and one for utility work – each totaled $20,197 in April. That’s up $592 from the same period last year.
A use tax applied to online and out-of-state purchases increased $3,232.62, totaling $16,800.77 for the month.
CABOOL
A one-cent general sales tax totaled $33,751.74. That’s an increase of $935.47 from the same period last year.
A half-cent sales tax for transportation needs totaled $16,876.03 in April. That’s up $467.96 from the same period last year.
A half-cent sales tax earmarked for law enforcement totaled $16,800.44 for the month.
A use tax applied to online and out-of-state purchases increased $4,241.57, totaling $11,905.39 for the month.
TEXAS COUNTY
For Texas County, merchants collect three half-cent sales taxes. Each totaled $117,960 for April, which represented an increase of $1,097 on each from the same period a year ago.
The sales tax on online and out-of-state sales totaled $105,320.94 for the month. That was up $21,039.09 from the same month in 2024.
Revenue from a three-eighths-cent sales tax earmarked for law enforcement totaled $77,695.68, which was down $1,866.33 for the month.
