In its latest report, the Cabool Police Department listed a range of activities, including traffic stops and responses to local incidents.
The department reported 23 traffic stops resulting in 10 summons and 17 warnings issued. Six arrests for non-traffic offenses were made. One warrant arrest was made.
At 12:30 p.m. on May 28, officers responded to a one-vehicle accident on westbound U.S. 60 near Beeler Creek. A 2022 Hyundai operated by a 26-year-old male from Memphis, Tennessee was traveling west, lost control and struck a guardrail, officers said. A probable cause statement charging the driver with driving while impaired (drugs), careless and imprudent driving and no insurance has been sent to the Texas County prosecutor.
At 9:10 p.m. on May 28, officers responded to a one-vehicle accident on eastbound U.S. 60 near the U.S. 63 overpass. A 2004 Jeep lost control, overturned and came to rest in the center median, officers said. James Lowe, of Willow Springs, was issued a summons for driving while intoxicated and careless and imprudent driving.
At 1:41 a.m. on May 31, officers stopped a 2022 Volkswagen traveling west on U.S. 60 for driving at 106 miles per hour. In the course of the investigation, April Meeks, of Lee’s Summit, was arrested for driving while intoxicated, speeding and careless and imprudent operation of a vehicle. While being transported to the police station, Meeks slipped out of the handcuffs. The Texas County prosecutor charged her with driving while intoxicated, speeding, careless and imprudent driving and attempted escape. Meeks posted a $1,000 cash bond and was released.
At 6:52 p.m. on May 31, officers were dispatched to a Garst Street residence for a physical domestic violence incident. Officers issued a fourth-degree domestic assault summons to Rex and Tabetha Moore.
In total, police handled two accidents, five animal complaints, one assault, one juvenile matter, assisted other agencies four times and assisted the public 13 times.
The fire department was dispatched 15 times.
