Texas County seniors who want their property tax frozen must submit paperwork by Sunday, June 15. Applications can be submitted via drop box outside of office hours.

The box is on the front (west) of the building.

The senior tax credit freeze is for those 62 and older. Friday is the last day to appear in person.

Applications are available at texascountymissouri.gov (at the top of the page) or in county offices at the Texas County Administrative Center at 210 N. Grand Ave. in Houston.

Persons must also include a valid identification with their application, as well as a copy of their real estate deed (available online or in the recorder’s office) and paid receipt from the 2024 tax year. (available online or in the collector’s office)

The freeze only applies to the primary current house, so if you move, you would need to apply for the credit again. There is an annual renewal paperwork process.

Voters overwhelmingly approved the measure in Texas County in April. It passed with 87 percent of the vote.
