The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:
- On July 18 at about 11:30 p.m., a deputy responded to a report of an assault at a Long Valley Road residence at Plato.
Upon arrival, the officer observed a large number of people inside the residence. After entering, the deputy asked the crowd for information about the incident, but everyone claimed to know nothing. The officer asked again, and a female replied that someone got punched, but both of the male parties involved had left.
The deputy asked for names, but everyone said they didn’t know and the two people involved weren’t from the area.
At about 1:30 a.m. July 19, the deputy was advised about a 17-year-old male at the Texas County Memorial Hospital ER who claimed to have been in a fight earlier that night. The officer made contact with him, and he described an altercation with a 22-year-old man at a party.
The officer reported being unable to conduct further investigation due to the 22-year-old man committing suicide.
- At about 9:30 p.m. July 25, a 39-year-old woman reported that her 17-year-old son had run away.
The woman said the boy had threatened her with a fist while driving home, and when she pulled over on Russell Drive near Cabool he jumped out and ran off. The boy was reportedly last seen wearing camouflage pants and a tank top and is about 6-feet tall and weighs about 120 pounds.
At about 10:40 p.m., the woman called to report the boy had come home and threatened to kill her and then ran off again.
The county juvenile office was advised, as was a juvenile officer in Arkansas, where the boy is on probation.
Investigation is ongoing.
