A former professional golfer has been frequenting the driving range at Wedgewood Country Club in Mountain Grove.

Sharon Miller, 84, was a two-time winner with the Ladies Professional Golf Association in the 1960s and 70s. Following an automobile accident that left her unable to play, she has been hitting balls at the regional golf range as often as possible.

Miller attended Western Michigan University, where she lettered in five sports: golf, tennis, field hockey, basketball and volleyball. She was inducted into the college’s hall of fame in 1991.

In 1966, Miller joined the LPGA and toured for 15 years. She won the Corpus Christi Civitan Open in 1973 and was victorious at the LPGA Borden Classic in 1974. Upon retiring, she became a teaching professional.

Miller recently moved from Green Valley, Arizona, and is planning to return to her hometown of Marshall, Michigan, to be near family. While in southern Missouri, Miller is enjoying time with her sister, Janice Prescott of Mansfield.

Before leaving Arizona, Miller golfed twice a week and hit range balls for 2 ½ hours at a time.
