School districts and the Texas County Health Department are offering information for parents about vaccinations in advance of students returning to classrooms next week.

Kindergarten or those 4 years of age are required to have these:

  • Two MMR – Measles, Mumps and Rubella
  • Two Varicella-Chicken Pox
  • Four doses of DTAP with at least one dose given after their fourth birthday
  • Three doses of polio with at least one dose given after their fourth birthday
  • Three doses of Hepatitis B vaccine

(Most 4- and 5-year-old children will need the MMR, Varicella and a DTAP with IPV before school starts)

Eighth graders need:

  • One TDAP
  • One MCV

Seniors need:

  • One MCV

Medical and religious exemptions are available and must be updated yearly. They are available at the school district and the county health department.
