Ozark Action Inc. announced Wednesday it is reducing staff beginning Oct. 1 amid delays in federal grant funding.

All outreach offices will be closed until funding is restored, it said. It operates an office in Houston on South U.S. 63.

Its main office is in West Plains. It offered these notes on that location:

  • Beginning Oct. 1, the front door will be locked. The walk-up window and individual meeting rooms will be available for customer use.
  • A reduced number of staff will be available in various departments, which may result in longer wait times for in-person services and phone support.
  • Only fingerprint clients, staff, vendors and clients with scheduled appointments will be allowed inside the building.
  • Hours are 8 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday at 710 E. Main. The phone number is 417-256-6147. The website is at www.oaiwp.org

Some programs are not affected: Head Start, Weatherization, Rental Assistance, Workforce, Homeless Assistance programs and many other activities continue to provide services but may be somewhat delayed.

“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work to return to full capacity as quickly as possible,” it said in a statement.
