Some federal offices closed Oct. 1 after Congress failed to avoid a government shutdown. The House and Senate did not resolve a budget dispute. It means that some, but not all, U.S. government services are temporarily suspended, and 40% of the federal workforce — about 750,000 people — were expected to be put on unpaid leave. A federal shutdown will have no immediate impact on Missouri WIC families, the Texas County Health Department announced. It administers the program locally.

It said enrollees should continue to attend appointments and shop with their WIC cards until further notice.
