Law enforcement issues report
A 2023 Jeep Wrangler traveling eastbound on Route 17 one mile south of Houston traveled off the right side of the road and struck an embankment early Tuesday morning, according to a law enforcement report.
The driver, a 27-year-old Summersville man, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Texas County Coroner Brent Honeycutt at 7:47 a.m. Next of kin has been notified.
This is Troop G of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s 28th fatality for 2025 compared to 22 at this time last year.
Fatality announced
Shortly after 7 a.m., a citizen reported an overturned vehicle off Route 17 near Lilly Road in Houston, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
The vehicle was occupied by a single person, who was found deceased, according to the highway patrol.
An investigation is underway to gather information pertaining to the accident.
Accident reported
Emergency personnel responded to a motor-vehicle accident on Route 17 near Lilly Road in Houston early Tuesday morning.
The Houston Rural Fire Association was first alerted of the accident at 7:16 a.m. A rescue truck was later called to the scene.
Normal traffic operations have been changed to allow personnel to respond to the accident.
