Tuesday marks the first day of absentee ballot voting for the upcoming April 7 election.

Persons can make a request through the Texas County clerk’s office on the third floor of the Texas County Administrative Center on Grand Avenue or call 417-967-2112.

The last day to register to vote is March 11. No excuse absentee voting begins March 24.

Tuesday, Feb. 24, also marks the first day of filings for various offices that will be on the August Primary ballot. Candidates — depending on the office — file at the county clerk’s office or with the secretary of state’s office in Jefferson City.

Filings open at 8 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. March 31.
