Continuing her assault on sprint and hurdle races this season, Houston junior Adyson Dailing won three events at Monday’s Osage Warpath meet.

Powered by another huge outing by junior Adyson Dailing, the Houston High School girls track and field team had a big day on Monday at the annual Osage Warpath meet at Osage Beach.

No team scores were kept at the 22-team event, but the Lady Tigers were one of the strongest squads in the field with wins in five events, while no other team had more than four.

Dailing continued her outstanding season, winning the 100 and 200-meter dashes and the 300-meter hurdles, and placing second in the 100-meter hurdles. She set yet another school record in the 300 hurdles and had personal-record times in her other three events.

“I guess three firsts and a second-place finish could be considered OK,” said HHS head coach Mike Tottingham. “Adyson is having an amazing season, and it’s a lot of fun watching her get even better at every track meet. If she keeps this momentum going, she is going to have a very special year.”

Other event wins for the Lady Tigers came from senior Kayla Wagner in the 400-meter dash, freshman Lyla Huffman in the 1,600-meter run. Huffman also came in second in the 800, while HHS junior Hally Scheets had the same height as the winner in the high jump, but placed fourth based on total attempts.

Wagner also took third in her first-ever attempt at shot put.

“Kayla has been telling me for two years she could get points in shot put, as I laughed at her,” Tottingham said. “She got third, so I got to eat some crow and admit that maybe she is OK at shot. All jokes aside, it’s an excellent example of how versatile of an athlete she really is.”

“Warpath has a JV division, so we always try to have a little fun at this meet,” Tottingham said. “We entered an all-throwers boys 4×100 relay team and they didn’t finish last, so that was a win in our books. Mason has been asking to long jump since his freshman year, and he got to check that goal off of his list.”

The two HHS squads are scheduled to compete again on Thursday (April 16) in the annual Zizzer Relays at West Plains.
