- On April 15, a deputy responded to a report of a verbal dispute at a Highway CC residence at Licking.
The officer made contact with a 64-year-old woman there who said she and her 34-year-old daughter had gotten into an argument over a dog that her daughter had given her as a gift.
The argument reportedly escalated, and the daughter told the mother that a 68-year-old man who also lives there had to leave because he looks at her children in a “creepy” way.
The woman also told the deputy that her daughter had locked the man out of the kitchen area of the house, and that when they went to leave, the daughter threw coffee in the man’s face.
The daughter told the officer her mother was trying to throw her out of the house that night, and that she had locked the man out of the portion of the house where she and her children were located.
The officer told the mother she couldn’t force her daughter to leave without an eviction notice.
All three people were advised of the 12-hour rule.
- On March 23, a deputy was dispatched regarding a report of a suicidal 36-year-old man at a Highway N residence at Licking.
The man’s mother had reportedly called 911 and said the man had hung a rope outside his house and was threatening to commit suicide.
Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the man, who spoke through a window and said he was “done” and that his wife had left with his children.
The officer spoke with the man for several hours, and repeatedly said he was “done,” but also said he didn’t want to hurt himself.
The man eventually came outside and stood by with two other deputies. He was taken to the Texas County Jail and an affidavit was completed and submitted to court officials pending a 96-hour mental evaluation.
The mother reportedly shared photos on her phone of the man with a rope around his neck.
- On. Feb. 15, a deputy was dispatched to a Highway N residence at Licking regarding a report of a burglary.
A 45-year-old woman there told the officer the building was her father’s home and he had passed away. She said multiple old shotguns, some landscaping bricks and an air compressor had been stolen.
The woman was left with a form to complete a written statement, but as of April 15, she had not submitted it to the sheriff’s department.
