Landscaping in front of the library has been completed with many Missouri native flowers and plants.

We are now ordering signage so the community can learn the names of everything we planted. Thank you Krista, Dustin, Janet and Brad for all your hard work on this project!

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 24, and Saturday, April 25, the Houston branch is having a book sale located down in the storm shelter. You can enter from the library or the storm shelter entrance. Fill a Texas County Book Bag for $10 or individual books are a $1 each. Cash or checks only please. Our Summersville branch is also having a plant and book sale the same dates.

April is National Library and Library staff month. I would like to thank the Texas County team for everything they do at all our four branches: Dar Robbins, Tiffany Davy, Del Hicks, Brandie Smith, Liza Cannon, Brenda Moore, Lee Ann Akins, Samuel Antle, Kathie Cox and Diana Richardson.

Summer Reading is approaching fast. For the first time this year, we will offer an adult Summer Reading challenge. The theme this year is DINOSAURS “Unearth a Story.” We will throw in some America’s 250th anniversary themes as well. Registration for both kids and adults will start the week of May 23. We are currently taking monetary donations to help with costs associated with the program. Any help is always appreciated.

Book clubs are not only a great way to hear about books you may want to read, but also a terrific place to meet new people. All four Texas County Library branches have book clubs and the dates and times are listed on our website. Come join in with other lovers of reading! If you are interested in being a part of any of our branch’s book clubs, contact Louise at 417-967-2258 or visit our Texas County library website.

Plenty of new arrivals have been added to all branch shelves. Come “check” them out!

One of the new features of the new library is our conference room and business center. The conference room seats 14+ and has a large smart TV monitor. The business center is a private office for an individual to conduct their business needs along with a computer and printer/copier. Both the rooms may be reserved during the day or after library hours. Call or come by the Houston circulation desk for information at 417-967-2258.

Friends of the Library needs Friends! Ask how you can become a part of your local Texas County Library branch’s Friends group. Friends of the Library strengthens libraries’ presence in communities and helps them thrive through fundraising, volunteering, advocating and so much more.
