The Walmart Supercenter in Houston is among stores that will participate in a campaign to fight hunger in the region.
“The Fight Hunger. Spark Change. campaign serves as a reminder that that the generosity of our neighbors strengthens our community,” said Bart Brown, president and CEO of Ozarks Food Harvest, which provides food to the Texas County Food Pantry. “The support of customers and the ongoing support from Walmart and Sam’s Club helps make it possible for us to help our neighbors facing hunger year-round.”
The campaign will run in stores and online through May 3, with three ways to participate:
- Donating or rounding up at checkout: Donate at the register in stores or clubs or round up your total on the Walmart app and website.
- By purchasing participating products in-store or online. For every purchase of a participating product, the supplier will donate the monetary equivalent of at least one meal 10 cents) on behalf of a Feeding America partner food bank at Walmart and five meals 50 cents) at Sam’s Club, up to applicable limits. See specially marked packages for full details.
- Giving directly: Visit Feeding America’s Fight Hunger. Spark Change. campaign donation site at either FeedingAmerica.org/Walmart or FeedingAmerica.org/SamsClub
Since 2010, the campaign has raised more than $1.5 million for Ozarks Food Harvest to provide more than 6 million meals for children, families and seniors in southwest Missouri. To learn more about the campaign, visit feedingamerica.org/campaigns/fight-hunger-spark-change.
