A program on Great Horned Owls is planned in conjunction with the summer reading program at the Texas County Library in Houston.
Mark H.X. Glenshaw will speak during the program, which is funded through a LAD Foundation grant awarded to the county library system.
Glenshaw is an award-winning naturalist who has closely observed and documented the lives of Great Horned Owls in Forest Park, a large urban park in St. Louis, since December 2005. Texas County Library Director Louise Beasley said Glenshaw’s engaging and entertaining talk will cover how he found these owls, basic facts about the species and how he uses many of his photos and videos to illustrate the amazing behaviors of the birds.
The program is at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6, in the Houston Storm Shelter (lower level of the library) at First and Pine streets in Houston. The public is invited.

This year’s summer reading program deals with nature, and the theme is “Dinosaurs — Unearthed a Story,” Beasley said.
It will mark the first year for the summer program to be held at the new Texas County Library, which opened in late October 2025.
