Citizens trying to beat the heat in Texas County have access to several cooling centers.
According to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, here is a list of local cooling locations:
- Cabool — Cabool Senior Center, 910 Cherry St., 417-962-3860. Hours are 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.; and Texas County Library, 418 Walnut Ave., 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 417-962-3722.
- Houston — Texas County Health Department, 950 N. U.S. 63, 417-967-4131. Hours are 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; Houston Senior Center, 301 S. Grand Ave., 417-967-4119. Hours are 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; and Texas County Library, 191 N. First St., 417-967-2258, 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- Licking — Licking Bridge Builders, 116 Green St., 573-674-3558. Hours are 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; and Texas County Library, 126 S. Main St., 573-674-2038, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- Summersville — Summersville Senior Center, 129 Rogers, 417-932-4044. Hours are 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; and Texas County Library, 480 First St., 417-932-5261, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Officials suggest calling to confirm hours before traveling to the respective facility.
