David Wayne Cope was born on Sept. 27, 1988 in Conroe, Texas to John and Vicki (Broxson) Cope. He passed away on Sept. 2, 2026 at the age of 37.
David graduated from Summersville High School in 2007. He loved to travel and see the beautiful sights this world has to offer. He met and married Rachel Roessler on Oct. 15, 2023. David was over the moon that he won Rachel’s heart.
David enjoyed being outside, working, playing and traveling. He especially enjoyed playing with the children of his friends and family. David had a smile that was almost as big as his heart. He was the life of the party and was affectionately known as “Dancin Dave.”
He always wanted to make sure his friends were safe, driving them home when they had partied too much, even when he didn’t have a license. That resulted in a lecture or two from his favorite night duty officer. He just wanted to take care of everyone.
David was preceded in death by his birth mother, Vicki Broxson; and grandpas, Robert Cope and Earl Walls.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Rachel; father, John and mom, Tonya Cope of Houston; sisters, Heather Cope and LaTisha Thebeau of Texas, and Courtney Camden of Summersville; brother, Wyatt and Emily Brooks of Kansas; grandmother, Rosa Lea Walls of Summersville, as well as numerous other family members and friends.
