Applications are open for seniors in Texas County to apply for a property tax freeze.

The senior tax credit freeze is for those 62 and older.

Applications are available at texascountymissouri.gov or in county offices at the Texas County Administrative Center at 210 N. Grand Ave. in Houston.

Persons must also include a valid identification with their application, as well as a copy of their real estate deed (available online or in the recorder’s office) and paid receipt from the 2024 tax year (available online or in the collector’s office).

The freeze only applies to the primary current house, so if you move, you would need to apply for the credit again. There also is an annual renewal paperwork process.

Voters approved the measure in Texas County in April. The deadline to apply is June 15, according to the county’s notice on its website. The applications are submitted to the county clerk’s office.
