The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:
- On April 17, a deputy responded to a report of a break-in at a Friend Drive residence at Bucyrus.
A 72-year-old man there told the officer that a sliding glass door had been pried open, and numerous Native American collectible items and about 50 bird point arrowheads had been stolen, as well as an old shotgun. Investigation is ongoing.
- On April 17, a deputy responded to a report of property damage at a Highway Y residence at Mountain View.
A 33-year-old man there told the officer that he came home from work and noticed that both of his mailboxes had been destroyed. The man said he suspected his 21-year-old nephew was responsible because they had a disagreement a few days earlier.
Attempts to contact the nephew were unsuccessful.
- A 35-year-old Licking woman came to the TCSD office on April 4 to report that a 35-year-old man had violated an order of protection out of Boone County.
The woman told an officer that she believed the man had sent her a birthday card pretending it was from their children, and had sent her text messages.
The officer contacted Boone County authorities to obtain a copy of the order, and determined that it only prohibited the man from being within 50 feet of her, but didn’t prohibit him from communicating with her.
