The Missouri State Highway Patrol investigated a motorcycle accident Saturday afternoon in Texas County.

A motorcyclist was seriously injured Saturday afternoon in a crash near Licking, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Harrod A. Baker, 71, of Houston, was operating a westbound 2007 Harley-Davidson Softail that began to slide, traveling off the left side of Highway CC, overturning and ejecting the driver, said Cpl. Jacob Sellars. The mishap occurred on the portion of the highway that is west of U.S. 63, the patrol said.

Baker was taken by air ambulance to Cox South in Springfield. He was wearing a helmet. The motorcycle had moderate damage.

The Licking Fire Department assisted on the scene following the 4:15 p.m. accident.
