Lois Joan Hasselbrink England Henshaw was born June 17, 1933, in Kellogg, Iowa to George Carl and Gretchen Louise (Smith) Hasselbrink. Lois passed away at Kabul Nursing Home April 23, 2024, at the age of 90. 

Lois graduated from high school in Chicago, Ill. She married Alpha England in 1952.

Lois and Alpha began their married life in Downers Grove, Ill. They relocated to Texas County in 1970. They operated several businesses including Summersville Realty, a cattle operation and England Bulldozing. Lois was deputy assessor of Texas County for many years, and then served two terms as Texas County Public Administrator.

Lois was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and the Republican Party. She was a hospital volunteer at the Texas County Memorial Hospital Gift Shop and served her community by participating in several important boards, including housing authority and sheltered workshop.

Lois was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and beloved member of the community.

Lois is preceded in death by mother, Gretchen; father, George; stepmother, Jean; sisters, Rita Martin and Christy Stevens; brother, Carl Hasselbrink; first husband, Alpha England; second husband, Harry Henshaw; and daughter, Michele Akers.

She is survived by son, Michael England and wife, Julie of Rockford, Ill.; brothers, Gerald Leroy Hasselbrink and wife, Elizabeth of Minnesota and George Robert Hasselbrink of Colorado; granddaughter April Bertke and husband, Ivan of Houston; grandson, Kyle and wife, Joanna Pyatt-Akers of Timber; son in law, David Akers of Raymondville; and great-grandchildren, Dedrick, Brooklyn, and Titan of Houston and Madison of St Charles, Mo.; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation for Lois will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at Evans Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 26, at Evans Funeral Home. Private interment will follow at Pine Lawn Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Mike England, Ivan Bertke, Kyle Akers, Herbie Akers, Dedrick Bertke and Tray Hall.
