Texas County was listed as No. 8 in the state in the spring firearms turkey season underway, figures from the Missouri Department of Conservation show.

Texas County hunters had killed 293 turkeys going into Friday, the sixth day of the spring firearms season, according to figures from the Missouri Department of Conservation.

In the county, 238 adult gobblers, 52 juvenile gobblers and three bearded hens were harvested.

Leading the state were: Franklin (411), Callaway (389) and St. Genevieve (342).

The season ends May 5.
