Virgie Lee Belback, 85, died Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at Houston House.
She was born Sept. 7, 1924, in Hartshorn, daughter of Jack Smith and Artie Bell Gale Smith. She married Maeland Belback.
She attended the Hartshorn Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed gardening, growing and tending flowers and doing puzzle books. She loved her family. She took care of her parents and babysat grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maeland; five brothers, Carl, Henry,”Johnie,: Norman, Charlie and Arvel; and four sisters, Goldie Beck, Laura Dewitt, Susie Stark and Myretha Morgan.
Survivors include three daughters, Treva Stark and Vada Stark of Birch Tree and Judy Gale of Raymondville; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Christa Cook of Hartshorn and Freda Arl of Ellington; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Services were Friday, April 23, at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Arvel Schweighauser officiating. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery.
