The Houston City Council approved a stricter policy Monday on tall grass and weeds in the community.

Members of the Houston City Council approved a new ordinance that calls for stricter standards related to tall grass, weeds and other nuisances.

Approved Monday night, the new law reduces to 18 inches – from the previous 24 inches- the height of grass before the city takes action to remedy the eyesore. The grass must be within 100 feet of a commercial or residential structure.
