Bettie and Wilmer Hill

Wilmer and Bettie Patterson Hill of Houston will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on July 28.

The Hills were married July 28, 1951, in Salem, Ark.

Wilmer logged until drafted in the Army for the Korean War, after a six-month stint in the hospital, he was medically discharged. When he returned home, he logged a short while until they moved to St. Louis and he worked as a drywall hanger until his health required a long hospital stay and a medical retirement.

Bettie worked at Rawlings Ball Factory in Licking and a banking institution in St. Louis. Upon moving back to Raymondville in 1965, she owned and operated her own beauty salon for 20 years and just recently retired as a real estate broker in Houston.

The Hills have three children, Deborah Hill Southern, Larry and Diana Hill and Vernon and Rhonda Hill Talbott of Houston; four grandsons, Bradley Cole of Nixa, Jeffrey and Tammy Talbott of Houston, Spencer Talbott of Los Angeles, Calif.; and John Hill of Broken Arrow, Okla., and three great-granddaughters, Kaleigh, Madilyn and Abigail Cole, and two great-grandsons, Riley and Blake Talbott.
