Texas County’s sheriff’s department solved a case involving a runaway pig.

An officer reported that on Feb. 1, a Cabool man had called to report that a large hog had been in the yard at his Parker Street residence for more than a week and wouldn’t leave.

The man stated that the hog was 300-plus pounds in size. He said he had contacted Cabool police about it and been told an animal control specialist would be sent out, but that had not taken place.

The deputy reported that he went to the area, made several stops at residences, and did locate the hog’s owner, who stated he had been looking for it for a week and had also called Cabool police.

The officer reported that on Feb. 2, the man filing the complaint called to report that the owner had retrieved the hog and all was OK.
