Houston’s community garden had a recent grand opening to showcase plots and highlight booths on gardening and give hints. Food and door prizes also were awarded.
The following won prizes: Glenna Edgemond, homemade detergent; Rita Whorton, homemade weed spray; David Hutsell, calla lily; Margie Wright, herb garden planter; and Trenton Studdard, balloon-powered boat.
Organizers thanked those stopping by Loretto House and invited the public to observe the garden. A portion of the food is donated to the county food pantry.
