According to information provided by Sheriff James Sigman, Texas County Sheriff’s Department officers responded to 2,477 calls in 2013.

Assault cases made up the largest percentage of those calls, at 19.05 percent. Next was fraud at 16.48 percent, followed by burglary at 12.45 percent, larceny at 11.36 percent, public peace at 8.42 percent and property damage at 8.06 percent.

“Other” cases accounted for 24.18 percent of the total, including trespassing, animal abuse, drugs and traffic violations. The two homicide cases dealt with last year by the TCSD fell under the assault category.
