The current location of the adult learning program in Houston will cease operation in mid-November.

The City of Houston announced last week that a new home is being sought for adult education classes in town.

The Houston Adult Education and Literacy Center meets in a city-owned Third Street home that was converted for its use. Recent insurance reviews of the property show it needs extensive and costly renovations.

A city official said the grants for the center do not allow to rent or purchase space, and the current location will shutdown in mid-November. A new location must be rent-free.

People or organizations with space to offer can call Joan Wright at 417-255-7744 or the Houston office at 417-967-8520.
