The Houston Rural Fire Department assisted the Licking and Raymondville fire departments around 1:15 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12 with Highway 137 wildfires.

“Conditions are very dry and relative humidity, which affects wildfires by either dampening or drying out potential fuel, is low,” said City of Houston Fire Chief Robbie Smith.

Several fires have broken out in the area within the last few days.
